ABOUT THE TOUR EXPERIENCE

We bring you with a small group of travelers into non-touristic neighborhoods within Bucerias, where you meet and engage with families of local artisans. Through translated conversations, you will gain deeper insights into the lives and livelihoods of these artisans, gaining a sense of the vibrant cultural diversity within Bucerias. You might try your hand at some local trades – such as painting or weaving – and will certainly not leave hungry, as the tour ends with a full and family-made Mexican meal.

Our staff has been running these intimate cultural day tours in Bucerias for half a decade, meaning we are an organization rich in relationships and grateful to welcome travelers like you into our community.

  • WHO

We work with a small group of artisans or small business owners, ranging from indigenous textile weavers to bakers to a hammock-makers and more! We always visit three different families, the last one being the one that provides us with a full, traditionally Mexican meal. Check out our artisan directory to learn more about who you might meet!

  • WHY

Our cultural tours are something you can feel good about, as the tour fee is channeled directly back into Bucerias. We pay all of our artisans fairly for their time and use profits from tour fees to fund educational programs for our community.

  • WHEN

Regular tours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am-1:30pm. Upon request, we can arrange custom tours at other times. Click here for information about upcoming tours.

Our tours cost $49 USD per person, which includes transportation, translation, materials, fair payments to all of the people you meet, and a full meal. Children under 7 receive a 50% discount, and really little ones (ages 0-2) are welcome for free.

Is this tour a good fit for families?

Absolutely! Since we visit families, there tends to be a very organic and special connection between our travelers and the people we visit. Kids have very different reactions than adults, which is fun to witness. Please be sure to let us know if you are traveling with children so that we can specialize the tour for them! If you do, we make sure to visit clients who have interactive trades so that your kids can get involved.  See our TripAdvisor page for feedback from families!
